A show in which the light of America's blind and visually impaired shined brightly than ever before, Late Nite With Ed Moore III's "Blind In America" special featured two blind students of Jacksonville State University, Curtis Scott Holman and Steffon Middleton. The junior students of the university told stories of what it is like growing up blind, stereotypes within the blind community, unknown strides made within the blind community, the challenges and difficulties of growing up blind, as well as how they go about performing day to day tasks such as typing, texting, reading, grocery shopping and watching television. During the show, the gentleman explained although they are blind, they have the same goals and aspirations as other men their age and will try to achieve these goals and aspirations despite their lack of sight. During the show, Curtis mentioned that he could remember being the kid that nobody wanted to sit by or get to know and explained to the listening audience that a simple approach to somebody different than you can make the world of difference. Curtis and Steffon earned their high school diplomas from The Alabama Institute For The Deaf & Blind located in Talladega, Alabama. Both are scheduled to graduate from the university within the next year.
