(L-R) Mj Ortiz, Ninma Sheshi, Chandra Jones, Antoinette Tatum, Cara Simone
In what was a powerful night for women everywhere, show #015 brought about awareness to the strides, struggles, roles, needs, and emotions of the female race. Six women from Jacksonville State University, Mj Ortiz, Antoinette Venable-Tatum, Chandra B. Jones, Cara Simone and season one's Ninma Sheshi, educated listeners everywhere by providing insight into the ever so evolving roles of women in a 21st century society. The women discussed double standards within the female community, the idea of criminal leniency women have faced within the justice system, as well as how to properly approach a woman for courting. The array of women also explained some of the challenges females face within the job industry as well as the professional adjustments women must develop while working within corporate America. Conversation also arose in regards to the stigmas associated with sex and teen pregnancy. While relaying to the public that young girls do not get pregnant on their own, the women of this show emphasized the importance of establishing a full understanding in regards to situations of this nature before coming to judgmental conclusions. At the end of the show, Ed presented a brief tribute to 'Soul Train' creator, Don Cornelius, who was found dead in his Los Angeles County home earlier that week.
"Women are the most precious jewels of this universe. They are not to be taken for granted." - Ed Moore III
